Emmett Technique

The Chameleon Approach to Body Therapy

The Emmett technique is a unique body therapy created by Ross Emmett.  It is a recognised safe, gentle and simple muscle release technique that is used to ease pain and discomfort, improve body movement, help restore a positive emotional state and improve the quality of life.

How does it work?

The Emmett Technique is an understanding of the body’s response to light touch. This method uses light finger pressure at specific locations to initiate the gentle release of tension in the body. These Emmett Points are not the same as traditional trigger points or acupressure points described in other therapies. It has been suggested that the body reacts in a similar way to the workings of a touch-screen. The stimulation is registered by the receiver’s nervous system and the brain responds by sending new instructions back to affect the physical state of the localised area.

Treatments can be done while you are fully clothed, although some garments may need to be loosened.

Emmett may be useful to address symptoms of the following:

  • Neck and shoulder restriction/discomfort
  • Migraines or cluster headaches
  • Abdominal bowel discomfort
  • Back and hip discomfort
  • Knee and ankle restrictions
  • Sinus congestion,
  • Fluid retention / Lymphatic congestion

While individual experiences may vary, relief is often instantaneous.

I come away from a Bowen/Emmett treatment, with a euphoric feeling, pain free. My posture has improved, I now walk upright straighter, and ready to take on the world. Before I attended Karen’s clinic my health was poor. I had a shoulder injury (tears to a rotator cuff) and gastro-intestinal problems. I suffered low back pain and a left foot sprain. Now my shoulder is 95% better. My digestion and diet has been sorted out with treatment ongoing. No low back pain now and my foot is still causing a problem but there has been improvement. Definitely. I felt a big difference even after the first treatment. I often recommend Karen to folk.
